Sacó de uno de los cajones sus cartas y las barajó por unos instantes. Entonces escogió una de las cartas de forma aleatoria… la carta de la conversación. ¡Era lógico! ¿Cuál otra iba a salir? Mercurio, el dios del comercio y de los viajeros una vez más le arrojaba la carta que representa la conversación, la capacidad de transmitir un mensaje, pero también de la empatía.
A ella en realidad no le gustaba depender de los planetas, prefería ser como esas personas que van por el mundo sin saber nada, creyendo que son felices, pero eso le estaba negado, una y otra vez la vida le había mostrado que los astros no mentían. Decidió entonces vestirse para la ocasión. Su teléfono no había sonado, ni había indicio alguno, todavía, de que la calma estuviera por terminar.
Sin embargo, tenía una sensación de que eso era precisamente lo que pasaría. Además, el afán habitaba en lo más profundo de su cerebro, puesto que su regente no estaría directo para siempre, de hecho, ya empezaba a perder aceleración. En ese momento su teléfono rojo sonó una vez, dos veces, tres veces. ¿Sería buena idea contestarlo? Tenía la costumbre de adivinar quién sería que llamaba, antes de contestar. Lo más lógico era que fuera su mejor amiga Agustina a esa hora.
Contestó… y quien llamaba definitivamente estaba en un lugar con la música a todo volumen. De lejos se escuchó la voz de Agustina: “Ven ahora a la azotea del Hotel Prestige, no te imaginas quién está aquí”. Trató de que fuera un diálogo, pero Agustina no escuchaba. Entonces se sentó en el diván, y esto era siempre así. Se convencía de que tenía que salir, y cuando conseguía lo que quería, ya no lo quería tanto. Sin embargo, en solo cinco días mercurio estaría retrógrado, si iba a aprovechar, tenía que ser ahora.
Se puso un vestido de color amarillo con unos tacones aguamarina y salió para la azotea del Prestige. En la entrada del lugar, no estaba el guardia de seguridad regular, que era el que ella conocía. Le tocaría hacer la fila como a todos y además sola y bajo una lluvia leve. Entonces escuchó su nombre: “Julieta”. Volteó solo para ver un flash al pasado. Su ex, Armando, era quien la llamaba. La fragancia cítrica de Armando le recordó esa época de fiestas lujosas que terminaban en desastre. Si alguien la podía entrar con facilidad al Prestige, era él, ¿pero a qué precio?
“¿Cómo estás Armando?” preguntó con cara seria y tono seco. “Mejor ahora que te veo. ¿Qué te has hecho? Estás radiante” contestó Armando. Julieta no contestó nada, se quedó pensando en que cualquiera que lo escuchara en la calle lo confundiría con un caballero. Nada más alejado de la realidad. “¿Con quién viniste?”, preguntó Armando. “Agustina está adentro esperándome”.
“Julieta y Agustina… las inseparables. Yo he venido con Lucía, mi novia”, Armando hace una seña a Lucía, quien se acerca. “Mi amor te presento a Julieta, una vieja amiga”. “Mucho gusto, dice Lucía” y se dan la mano. “Y qué haces acá afuera sola” le pregunta Lucía. “Mi amiga Agustina me espera adentro”, responde Julieta. “Pues ven con nosotros que Armando conoce al guardia de la entrada. Lucía parecía ser buena persona y la verdad era que su aparición repentina en ese momento le daba mucha más tranquilidad.
Dentro del Prestige, buscó a Agustina por unos cinco minutos pero no parecía dar con su ubicación en medio de tanta gente. Decidió ir al bar por un coctel mientras aparecía su amiga. Tal vez desde allí podría llamarla e intentar escucharla, o mejor aún, enviarle un texto.

No obstante, sí sentía cierta tranquilidad porque después de ver a Armando con su querida novia, sabía de antemano que no le incomodaba esa situación. Esas sí eran buenas noticias, sin embargo, Agustina seguía sin comunicarse con ella, y cuando pensó que había perdido su tiempo, ésta apareció de repente con una canasta llena de frutas y un par de globos.
Era una gran sorpresa, su gran amiga la quería sorprender con una pequeña celebración. En ese momento recordó que, aunque mercurio estaba retrógrado, su creencia en la influencia de los planetas estaba a punto de desvanecer ya que las cosas no estaban saliendo como lo había imaginado. Se sintió feliz porque su gran amiga había cambiado lo que pensó sería un día triste, para convertirlo en un día con mucha felicidad. Terminaron en esa azotea cantando y brindando hasta que la aurora los sorprendió y ya no recordaba al dichoso mercurio retrogrado, ahora era todo positivo y sinceramente lo que quería era que el tiempo se paralizara.
