Helena Casares se despertó antes de que sonara el reloj esa mañana, con una fuerte jaqueca. Le dolía todo el cuerpo terriblemente, había pasado una pésima noche, llena de pesadillas horrorosas. Se levantó tambaleando y fue al baño, se aseó y fue a la cocina. Mareada, se preparó el desayuno, eran apenas las 6.30 de la mañana y entraba a trabajar a las 8. Necesitaba despejarse de los feos sueños, así que para distraerse decidió darle una hojeada al diario, aunque fuese el del día anterior.
Se sentó y mientras sorbía su té, acercó el diario que estaba sobre la mesa y se ahogó al ver uno de los titulares principales. Tosió, escupiendo el té y la tostada, corrió la taza y leyó nuevamente el titular con ojos desorbitados. No podía creer lo que este decía: “Helena Casares es el nombre de la mujer asesinada, revelaron fuentes policiales”.
